About the IGC

The IGC’s Mission is to Empower discovery through high-qualitycost-efficient research solutions for Johns Hopkins and the global scientific community.

The Johns Hopkins Integrated Genomics Center, is a strategic initiative designed to strengthen genomics services and foster greater coordination, consistency and sustainability across institutional genomics capabilities.

As part of this effort, the Single Cell & Transcriptomics Core (SCTC) has become a functional division of the Integrated Genomics Center (GRCF).

Over the next several months, the Experimental and Computational Genomics Core (ECGC) will join the SCTC and GRCF as key components of the newly established Integrated Genomics Center, a school of medicine-level structure designed to align institutional governance capabilities while preserving the scientific strengths and expertise of each program.

The goal of establishing this new center is to bring complementary services and expertise together to harness rapidly evolving technologies in genomics research and enhance the investigator experience, cost and service through a more cohesive genomics ecosystem, supported by shared governance and strong quality frameworks.

What to expect:

·       Continuity of services, practices and ongoing engagement across the genomics community

·       Strengthened expertise and sourcing, reporting and fiscal structures, including cost savings already underway by leveraging economies of scale across the cores

·       Expansion of services, including new long-read sequencing capabilities

·       Educational opportunities through upcoming seminars and symposia, including an upcoming symposium on April 22, 2026, Turner Concourse, 9 am – 2 pm

·       This initiative is taking shape over the next few months as the university is planning additional work related to increasing cross-campus integration and access to shared research facilities.

The Integrated Genomics Center

A Part of the Johns Hopkins community for more than 36 years

On April 22,2026, the Integrated Genomics Center (GRCF) and its partners officially unite as the Johns Hopkins Integrated Genomics Center (JHIGC). This service center showcases our new, unified framework for sequencing, single-cell genomics, and computational discovery. Whether you are an investigator looking to scale your research or a student eager for the latest in functional genomics.
